The Ladies Bridge repair or replacement

The Ladies Bridge provides the main access to Cruden Bay beach . Funded by a group of local ladies (hense the name Ladies Bridge) in 1922, the wooden bridge across the mouth of the Water of Cruden was built, linking the beach to the village.
The bridge is currently in a poor state of repair and although still open to the public it‘s condition has been deteriorating noticeably over recent years. In fact the bridge was closed of for several months a couple of years ago and only reopened after the local council agreed to carry out remedial repair work whilst a more permanent solution was found.
The Community Association and other local groups continue to push the local council for progress to be made on this vital means of access and have looked independently towards other alternatives including grant aid to fund a replacement.
The subject is regularly discussed at Community Association meetings and details of these discussions are reported in the Community Association minutes.
