Cruden Bay

For nearly 20 years the John & Mary Garden Fund has provided benefit to the village of Cruden Bay. Bequeathed to the village by John and Mary Garden to be used to the benefit of the village, the fund is managed by the Cruden Bay Community Association and has for many years enjoyed steady growth through annual dividends paid on a diverse investment port folio.

However the global credit crunch has affected the J & M Garden fund as it has almost every other investment fund across the globe, and the impact on our fund reflects the same loss in value experienced by so many others far and wide.

In these difficult times for investment based savings portfolios where losses are much more expected than gains, the Community Association has been discussing various actions to help limit any further losses.

One of the options now being considered is to invest a sizeable percentage of the fund in community centred projects, in particular ones which might somehow generate alternative revenue streams to the benefit of the J & M Garden fund.

With this objective in mind, the Community Association is interested in hearing about any community centred projects requiring funding which might comply with the general requirement of being to the broad benefit of the village. Please use this comments box to forward your suggestions.
